Poppy orange, dragon fruit pink, and heavy turquoise. I love bright, heavy, saturated colors, especially in flowers, made by Mother Nature! The bright, dragon fruit pink colored, “pom-pom” looking flowers are from Eucalyptus ‘Silver Princess,’ one of my favorite Eucalyptus species! Eucalyptus flowers have very interesting characteristics in that they don’t have petals, but very hairy, showy, “fiber optical” stamens. The little cap that covers the decorative stamens before they party out is called the operculum (what a fun word!). I even like how the petals dropped on the poppy to the right. It really symbolizes how everything changes always, especially beauty of the ephemeral nature. And, it’s very fitting on my at home altar next to the picture of my dad.
